THE MENNONITE GAZE
I spent a year among Christian farming communities in the Bolivian Amazon. These photographs capture moments of connection between us, freezing in time their gestures, environment, and struggles of life on the frontier
STREET PHOTOGRAPHY
Street photography is unpredictable, filled with raw and unscripted moments. I have to overcome the discomfort, and sometimes even fear, that comes with pointing a camera at strangers. I get absorbed by things that catch my attention, and before reasoning, I press the shutter.
THE HOUSE IS STILL DARK (work in progress)
I traveled deep into the Nicaraguan rainforest to understand the mysterious and unexplored illness affecting the Mayangna and Miskito peoples—a malady that drives its victims into violent rages, causes visions as vivid as dreams, and erases their memories.
THE GARDEN
I created this observational short film, which combines reenactments and fly-on-the-wall techniques. My idea was to build a film with as few shots as possible, while still telling a story.
The Garden is the story of Malak, a devout young Muslim woman who, while wanting to become a known painter, defies female roles and Islamic traditional art in Palestine.
GRABBING DIGNITY
‘Grabbing Dignity’ explores how marginalised women perceive their dignity during a relocation process from an illegal settlement to subsidised housing in Santiago, Chile, in 2016.
The film was selected to be part of the first edition of the peer-reviewed Journal of Anthropological Films (JAF)
